Fire Extinguishing Gas

IG-100 Summary

Nitrogen (hereinafter referred to as "nitrogen chemicals") is a natural gas that exists in the ratio of about 78% in air and does not harm the global environment such as ozone depletion problems or global warming problems. It is a non-conductive, gaseous and clean extinguishing agent with no residue left after release. Extinguishing principle is to extinguish by lowering oxygen concentration in the air by suffocation by dilution of oxygen concentration.

Characteristic

· 100% nitrogen content as an inert gas fire extinguishing agent
· Colorless, odorless, electrically non-conductive, non-toxic gas
· No combustion products (HF) due to no pyrolysis when extinguishing
· Quite cost effective compared to other extinguishing agents
· Ozone depletion potential (ODP = 0), global warming potential (GWP = 0) are "Zero (0)"

IG-100 Human Safety

· Although the IG-100 can be safely used even in the presence of humans with a maximum design concentration of 43%, several safety precautions must be taken into account when releasing extinguishing agents. Direct inhalation of extinguishing agents is unlikely, but it may pose a risk to the human body. Therefore, resident releases in the protected area should be evacuated promptly when possible, and adequate ventilation should be provided after fire extinguishing. In addition, IG-100 storage containers are usually stored under high pressure gas, so care must be taken in handling and using them.

· No Effect Level (NEL): The maximum concentration where no toxic or physiological adverse effects on the human body have been observed. In Korea, this is the maximum allowable design concentration according to national fire safety standards.
· Low Effect Level (LEL) : The minimum concentration at which toxic or physiological adverse effects on the human body have begun to be observed. NFPA 2001 is permitted to use this concentration depending on the evacuation time.
· The maximum allowable design concentration of IG-100 extinguishing agent applies NOAEL (43%), and it cannot be designed by applying the design concentration higher than the maximum allowable design concentration (43%) in resident area.

IG-100 Environmental stability

· The biggest characteristic of nitrogen is that it does not affect the environment at all. Unlike halogen-based clean extinguishing agents that are chemically synthesized, the main component of nitrogen is natural gas, which is present in the largest proportion in the air, and thus does not affect the environment at all. Therefore, Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP), Global Warming Potential (GWP), and lifetime in the atmosphere (atmosphere remaining life) are also zero.

Application

· Install in a place where water damage by sprinkler, foam fire extinguishing equipment, etc. is reluctant to be avoided, or electric fire or oil fire easily occur. (Electric room, art gallery, computer room, luxury store, library, etc.)
